About The Role

JLOOP is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, develop, test, and maintain software applications. In this role, you will work with colleagues across engineering, product, design, and other relevant teams to turn requirements into reliable, user-focused solutions. You will contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from discussing technical approaches and writing code to reviewing changes, resolving issues, and improving existing systems.

The ideal candidate is curious, accountable, and comfortable balancing independent work with collaboration. You can explain technical topics clearly, ask questions when requirements need clarification, and make considered decisions about quality, maintainability, and delivery. The role may involve working across different technologies or project types, so a willingness to learn and adapt is important. Specific tools and assignments will depend on project needs and team priorities.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Applicants should have experience developing software in one or more programming languages and a working understanding of core concepts such as data structures, algorithms, object-oriented or functional programming, and software design principles.

Qualified candidates will be familiar with version control and collaborative development workflows, and have experience writing or supporting automated tests. The ability to investigate technical problems, evaluate possible solutions, and produce readable, maintainable code is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with sound organization, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach.

Experience with web or application development, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, or agile practices is an advantage, but is not required for every assignment. We welcome candidates who demonstrate relevant projects, practical learning, or transferable experience. A commitment to continued learning and responsible handling of data and technology is expected.

Responsibilities

Design, build, test, and maintain software features in line with project requirements and established engineering practices. Work with teammates and stakeholders to understand user needs, clarify scope, estimate work, and identify technical considerations. Participate in code reviews by providing constructive feedback and incorporating suggestions that improve reliability, security, performance, or maintainability.

Write and update technical documentation, tests, and implementation notes as appropriate. Troubleshoot defects, investigate production or development issues, and communicate findings and progress to relevant team members. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce technical debt, and strengthen development practices. Protect confidential information, follow applicable security guidelines, and raise risks or blockers promptly. Take ownership of assigned work while remaining open to feedback and changing priorities.
