About The Role

As a WordPress Developer, you will develop, enhance, and maintain websites built on WordPress, balancing front-end quality with dependable implementation and ongoing support. You will create custom themes, page templates, reusable components, and responsive landing pages while helping ensure that existing site features continue to perform as expected. The role calls for at least five years of experience working with business-critical WordPress websites, along with strong HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills and practical PHP experience. You will also contribute to the processes that support secure and reliable website delivery, including plugin management, staging, deployment, version control, and hosting environment coordination.

Qualifications

Candidates should bring five or more years of experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites used for important business functions. Strong front-end development skills in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript are required, together with practical experience using PHP within WordPress. You should have experience building custom WordPress themes and page templates, developing reusable components, and creating responsive landing pages that work effectively across screen sizes and devices.

Applicants should also be familiar with managing WordPress plugins and supporting website hosting environments. Experience working with staging and deployment processes, version control, and website security is important. The ideal candidate can assess existing implementations, troubleshoot issues methodically, and make changes with attention to site stability and maintainability. Clear communication, sound organization, and the ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders are valuable in a remote contract environment. A careful, user-focused approach to development will help ensure that website updates meet both functional requirements and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and improve business-critical WordPress websites, ensuring that updates are reliable and aligned with project requirements. Build and customize themes, page templates, reusable components, and responsive landing pages using appropriate WordPress, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript practices. Translate design and business needs into accessible, consistent front-end experiences across common devices and screen sizes.

Manage and support plugins, identify compatibility or performance concerns, and make updates with appropriate care for existing site functionality. Work with hosting environments and established staging and deployment processes to test changes before they are released. Use version control to manage code changes and support collaboration. Follow sound website security practices, help investigate technical issues, and communicate risks or recommended improvements to relevant stakeholders. Maintain clear, organized code and documentation so that work can be reviewed, supported, and extended over time. Contribute to timely delivery throughout the six-month engagement while keeping stakeholders informed of progress, dependencies, and potential challenges.
