About The Role

Muvi Entertainment is looking for a Full-stack PHP Developer to join our growing Engineering team. This role is suited to a self-directed problem solver who enjoys writing high-quality code and contributing across both the front end and back end of web applications. You will help develop and maintain product features, improve existing functionality, and respond to insights from system performance and user feedback. Working closely with engineers and other departments, you will take ideas from early proof of concept through development, testing, and ongoing support.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with one to two years of programming experience developing web applications and practical experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel or CodeIgniter. You should understand object-oriented programming principles and have experience working with PHP-based content management systems, such as WordPress. Familiarity with front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, JSON, and XML is important.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of database modeling and design, along with good knowledge of MySQL. Experience designing APIs and working with REST-based services is required. Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture is a plus. You should be attentive to detail, communicate clearly, and be comfortable organizing your work independently. A commitment to readable, maintainable code and an interest in learning current tools, libraries, and development practices will help you succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and support web applications using PHP frameworks, including Laravel. Collaborate with the team to plan and deliver new features, write unit tests, and maintain existing software. Review system services and user feedback to help assess the impact of new functionality and identify opportunities for improvement. Optimize application features and performance to improve response times and usability.

Write efficient, consistent, and maintainable code, and contribute to performance tuning, testing, refactoring, and automation. Build rapid proof-of-concept implementations to explore ideas and present them to internal stakeholders. Support, maintain, and help document software functionality. Work with other departments, stakeholders, and customers to understand development needs, improve internal tools, and address implementation issues. Stay informed about relevant tools, libraries, and best practices, and share ideas that can improve the team’s development processes and technology toolchain.
