About The Role
Canfield Scientific, Inc. is seeking a Clinical PHP Web Developer, Level I, to contribute to the development and maintenance of web-based applications used in clinical and research environments. This is an opportunity for an early-career developer to strengthen technical skills while working with a focused, creative team. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, takes initiative, manages time effectively, and approaches work with care and curiosity. You will collaborate with colleagues to understand requirements, implement solutions, and help deliver reliable, user-friendly software. A genuine interest in professional growth and contributing to a dynamic group is important for success in this position.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a foundational understanding of PHP and web application development, along with familiarity with core web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience working with databases and writing or updating SQL queries is helpful. Applicants should be comfortable learning existing code, investigating issues, and asking questions when requirements or technical details are unclear. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the role involves coordinating with developers and other team members. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, organized, dependable, and able to balance multiple tasks while meeting agreed timelines. An interest in clinical software, research, or healthcare technology is welcome. Equivalent practical experience, coursework, or personal projects may help demonstrate relevant skills.
Responsibilities
Assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining PHP-based web applications and related features. Work with team members to clarify user needs and translate defined requirements into practical technical solutions. Review existing application behavior, identify opportunities for improvement, and help troubleshoot defects or performance concerns. Write readable, maintainable code and follow established development practices, documenting changes where appropriate. Support integration with databases and other application components, and help verify that updates work as intended across supported environments. Participate in code reviews, testing, and team discussions to share progress and receive feedback. Communicate risks, questions, and project status promptly. Contribute to the ongoing reliability and usability of clinical web tools, while following applicable internal processes for handling sensitive information. The scope of assignments will reflect a Level I position, with guidance and opportunities to build greater independence over time.
Benefits
Canfield Scientific, Inc. offers the opportunity to develop professionally while contributing to meaningful clinical and research technology. Team members can gain hands-on experience with real-world web applications, learn from colleagues across disciplines, and build skills through practical assignments and constructive feedback. Compensation, benefits, and other employment details will be discussed during the hiring process and may vary based on applicable policies and eligibility.
