About The Role

LaraBench is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, build, test, and improve our software products. In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders to turn requirements into dependable features. You will contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from discussing technical approaches and writing code to reviewing changes, investigating issues, and refining existing systems. The ideal candidate enjoys balancing thoughtful engineering with timely delivery, communicates clearly, and is comfortable working through problems that may not have an obvious answer. You will have opportunities to contribute ideas, strengthen development practices, and expand your technical skills as the team and products evolve.

Qualifications

Applicants should have professional experience in software development or equivalent practical experience gained through projects, education, or other relevant work. You should be comfortable working with at least one modern programming language and have a solid understanding of core concepts such as data structures, algorithms, testing, and maintainable code. Experience developing web applications, services, APIs, or other production software is valuable. We also welcome familiarity with version control, code review, debugging, and collaborative development workflows.

Strong candidates explain technical ideas clearly, ask useful questions, and work constructively with people from different disciplines. You should be able to manage priorities, respond thoughtfully to feedback, and take responsibility for the quality of your contributions. A learning mindset and an interest in improving both products and processes are important. Experience with cloud platforms, databases, automated testing, or continuous integration is helpful, but not required. We value demonstrated ability and potential alongside formal credentials.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain software features that meet product requirements and quality expectations. Collaborate with product and design partners to clarify user needs, assess trade-offs, and develop practical technical solutions. Write readable, testable code and contribute to documentation that helps teammates understand systems and decisions. Participate in code reviews by offering constructive feedback and incorporating suggestions into your own work.

Develop and maintain automated tests, investigate defects, and help resolve production or development issues. Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, accessibility, security, and maintainability. Break work into manageable tasks, communicate progress and risks, and contribute to planning discussions. Share knowledge with colleagues and support a collaborative engineering culture. Follow applicable development standards and handle company and customer information responsibly.
