This hands-on role is ideal for a collaborative, detail-oriented developer who enjoys working across content, page builders, responsive front-end updates, and practical WordPress troubleshooting.
About The Company
JLOOP is a creative agency that builds memorable digital products for enterprise customers around the world. Our team partners across strategy, design, production, and development to deliver digital experiences that meet client needs. This role supports an expanding portfolio of approximately 80 websites across JLOOP and Athena Advisors, including sites built with custom themes and a range of WordPress page builders.
About The Role
As a Junior WordPress Developer, you will build new pages and sites, implement content updates, make targeted front-end changes, and troubleshoot website issues. You will work from approved designs and clear requirements, using sound design judgment to fill in gaps when appropriate. You will collaborate regularly with Producers, Project Managers, designers, and developers to clarify requests, deliver changes, verify results, and escalate work that requires more advanced technical expertise. The role focuses on maintaining and extending existing websites while preserving their established designs, branding, and user experience.
Qualifications
We are looking for hands-on WordPress experience, including content updates, page builders, and website troubleshooting. Candidates should be comfortable with Elementor and able to work with WPBakery, Gutenberg, and inherited custom themes; Divi experience is an asset. Intermediate CSS skills, basic HTML knowledge, and foundational JavaScript and jQuery familiarity are expected, along with confidence using browser developer tools.
Experience with Gravity Forms and Advanced Custom Fields, responsive web behavior, WordPress migrations, and navigating a MySQL database is valuable. You should have practical design judgment, general SEO knowledge, and experience implementing approved instructions with Yoast. Strong organization, clear communication, collaboration, and good judgment about when to ask for guidance are essential. PHP, theme modifications, custom WordPress functionality, WordPress maintenance, Plesk, hosting, or WordPress API experience are additional assets.
Responsibilities
Build and update WordPress pages and sites using approved designs, supplied requirements, existing components, and established brand standards. Add, replace, and remove copy, modules, documents, and media through the WordPress dashboard. Prepare graphics for the web by resizing, cropping, compressing, and converting files. Inspect inherited themes and site structures before making changes, and verify content accuracy, links, documents, and page layouts before delivery.
Use CSS, HTML, and foundational JavaScript or jQuery knowledge to make approved front-end updates and troubleshoot presentation or behavior. Check pages and functionality across desktop, tablet, and mobile. Reproduce issues and investigate whether they originate in plugins, themes, custom code, or content configuration. Resolve problems within your capabilities, test fixes in the appropriate environment, and escalate complex PHP or custom development issues with clear findings and reproduction steps.
Configure and verify forms, including validation and expected submissions, and implement supplied integration instructions such as Salesforce data handling. Add approved tracking or Google meta tags and apply marketing-provided SEO instructions using Yoast. Follow development workflows and review practices, document changes and test results, communicate progress and risks promptly, and coordinate with teammates on priorities, scope, and timelines.
