Work Setup: Hybrid/Onsite – 3 days per week in office

Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer will act as the technical lead and sole developer for mobile applications used by drone pilots for agricultural field scouting. Approximately 75% of the role focuses on designing and developing a new Android application, while 25% focuses on owning and maintaining the existing iOS FieldAgent Mobile application.

Must-Haves

• 6+ years professional software development experience.

• 2+ years hands-on Android development experience.

• Strong mobile application architecture, design, coding, testing, debugging, and maintenance skills.

• Ability to work independently as a technical lead/sole developer.

• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical abilities.

• Interest in using AI-driven software development processes/tools.

• Strong communication and ability to work directly with customers, Product Management, UX, backend, web/PC, and hardware teams.

• Comfortable testing software through actual drone flights.

• Willing to travel for approximately 2–5 customer visits/year plus 1–2 internal conferences/trainings/year.

Nice-to-Haves

iOS development is highly valuable since the engineer will maintain the existing iOS application. Other preferred experience includes GitHub Actions/CI/CD, geospatial/GIS data and mapping, GeoJSON, ESRI Shapefiles, GeoTIFF/COGs, rasterio, geopandas, drone applications, hardware/sensor/IoT integration, precision agriculture/digital agronomy, C#/.NET, and WPF.
