Role Title: Product Designer

Company: KzJ KyW75QHpu

Location: Remote, U.S.-based

Job Type: Full-Time

About KzJ KyW75QHpu

We are an interview and career readiness platform used by universities, workforce agencies, nonprofits, and other organizations. We combine expert-led curriculum with AI-powered tools to help people build stronger resumes, practice interviews, navigate the job search, and get hired faster.

Our products serve both individual job seekers and the organizations that support them.

Why This Role Exists

The Product Designer exists to increase learner activation, practice completion, and retention by improving onboarding, practice flows, dashboards, and AI experiences. This role provides the design delivery engineering needs to move priority product work forward.

What Success Looks Like

• Improve learner activation across onboarding

• Improve learner practice completion

• Improve learner retention across an agreed retention window

• Increase the share of learners who can correctly explain their AI feedback or score and identify their next action, demonstrated through learner testing of released AI experiences and a documented AI UX review.

• Reduce priority engineering items blocked by missing design and keep design at least one sprint ahead on agreed priority work, verified through PM/CTO-reviewed delivery plans, engineering-ready handoffs, and design-blocker reviews.

Core Responsibilities

• Investigate learner friction across onboarding, practice flows, and dashboards through learner research and behavioral product measures.

• Develop and test flows, interactions, and edge cases, then prepare implementable designs for engineering.

• Design explanations, next actions, limitations, and failure states for AI feedback, scoring, and personalization.

• Work with engineering during implementation and review shipped experiences for usability problems and design gaps.

• Review post-release user evidence and product measures to decide what to revise or investigate next.

• Agree on priorities, scope, capacity, and deferred work with the PM and CTO, making tradeoffs explicit when requests change.

• Establish working agreements with product and engineering on design decisions and handoffs, including boundaries with marketing.

Required Experience & Capabilities

• Experience owning product UX from problem definition through learner or user research, design, engineering handoff, and post-release review for onboarding or repeated-use workflows.

• Experience setting design priorities as a sole designer or comparably autonomous senior individual contributor, negotiating scope and capacity with product and engineering leaders, and using tradeoffs to prevent overload while preserving delivery.

• Experience delivering implementable interaction designs and edge cases with engineering, resolving design blockers, and checking the shipped experience.

• 4+ years of product design experience; a portfolio showing end-to-end product thinking; advanced Figma skills with components, variants, auto layout, and tokens; and enough HTML/CSS/JS literacy to design within front-end constraints.

• Must be based in the United States.

Preferred Experience

• Experience designing AI feedback, scoring, or personalization experiences. Strong evidence of making complex or uncertain outputs understandable and actionable can compensate for limited direct AI experience.

• Experience designing learning or career-readiness products used through partner institutions. Prior sector experience is not required; strong evidence from comparable onboarding and repeated-practice workflows can compensate.

• Experience using behavioral product measures and user evidence to assess whether design changes improved activation, completion, retention, or comparable outcomes.

Operating Environment & Fit

This is a remote, U.S.-based role. As the sole designer, you will work with the PM, CTO, and engineering without authority over those teams, within explicit scope and capacity limits. Impact and agility matter most: connect shipped changes to measured learner outcomes, redirect effort when results do not improve, and replan when priorities change while communicating tradeoffs and protecting agreed capacity.
