Staff Motion Designer, Design Innovation — United States

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Motion Designer, Design Innovation to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space.

This role will shape the motion design language for flagship experiences, helping define how users perceive clarity, coherence, and delight across the product. You will partner closely with product designers and engineers to guide motion strategy, elevate interaction quality, and turn exploratory ideas into scalable design system assets. The position also calls for rapid prototyping, technical collaboration, and the creation of tools and workflows that help the broader design organization move faster and more consistently.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $158,765 – $326,870 annually

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the motion design language for clarity and coherence

• Lead motion direction for flagship and AI-driven experiences to enhance user interaction

• Collaborate with product designers and engineers to align feature work with motion strategy

• Transform high-craft explorations into scalable design system contributions

• Rapidly prototype and validate motion ideas using various tools and mediums

• Work closely with engineering to tackle ambitious animation challenges while ensuring performance and accessibility

• Develop tools and workflows to streamline motion exploration for designers and engineers

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in motion design or related fields with a strong portfolio of shipped products

• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and elevate design quality without formal authority

• Expertise in motion and interaction design principles, including timing and transitions

• Experience in creating scalable motion systems and documentation for team adoption

• Strong collaboration with engineers on complex motion implementations and technical constraints

• Proficient in prototyping tools, AI, and technical workflows for design exploration

• Excellent communication skills for articulating design rationale and facilitating critiques
