About The Role

As a Senior Mobile Engineer, React Native, you will build and maintain consumer mobile features for iOS and Android. Your work will support experiences such as continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data visualization, dT-gXzHZWg food logging, personalized metabolic insights, and an bZ health assistant. You will take ownership of assigned areas of the React Native codebase, contributing across architecture, design, implementation, testing, release readiness, and ongoing maintenance.

You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and engineering colleagues to turn user and business needs into reliable, well-scoped solutions. The team is also evaluating an ongoing transition from React Native toward native iOS and Android development where appropriate. You will contribute thoughtful technical input on what should migrate and help guide practical decisions about the right technology for each feature. This position is based in Alameda, California.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, along with at least five years of professional software engineering experience. Candidates should have a minimum of three years using React Native as a primary technology in a production consumer application.

You should bring strong knowledge of React Native component architecture, state management, navigation, performance optimization, and the new architecture, including JSI, Fabric, and TurboModules. Experience with solutions such as Redux, Zustand, or equivalent tools, as well as mobile architecture patterns and offline-first design, is important. You should understand iOS and/or Android fundamentals well enough to investigate native-layer behavior, interpret native code during debugging, and make informed decisions about native modules.

Additional requirements include experience consuming native modules, profiling and resolving JavaScript thread or rendering bottlenecks, and writing automated unit and integration tests. Familiarity with end-to-end testing frameworks is expected. Preferred qualifications include hands-on Swift or Kotlin development; experience in consumer health, digital health, or regulated industries; and exposure to CGM, biosensor, IoT, Bluetooth Low Energy, or wearable-device integrations. Experience with on-device bZ or machine learning, mobile CI/CD and app store releases, or high-growth consumer technology environments is also valued.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain clean, readable, performant React Native code that works reliably across a range of iOS and Android devices and operating system versions. Own features throughout their lifecycle, and identify and address performance concerns involving JavaScript execution, rendering, and memory use. Work with native modules and platform capabilities, including integrations with CGM hardware SDKs and Bluetooth data streams.

Contribute to technical decisions about the React Native-to-native migration, participate in code reviews, and help maintain high standards for quality, testability, and maintainability. Strengthen mobile testing practices across unit, integration, and end-to-end coverage. Partner with Product and Design to clarify requirements, deliver thoughtful solutions, and raise constructive concerns when proposed scope or implementation adds unnecessary complexity.
