Location: Remote, U.S.-based
About The Company
LinkedIn connects professionals and organizations through products and services designed to support opportunity, learning, and meaningful professional relationships. Our technology teams build and maintain digital experiences used by people and businesses around the world. We value thoughtful engineering, collaboration, and responsible development practices. For this contract opportunity, you will contribute to a secure enterprise application ecosystem and work with engineering stakeholders across multiple initiatives. The role is suited to a developer who brings production PHP experience and understands the importance of reliability, privacy, and security in complex environments.
About The Role
LinkedIn is seeking a PHP Developer for a contract engagement supporting secure, enterprise web applications. You will build and maintain application features, address technical issues, and help deliver dependable solutions across a range of parallel projects. The work calls for a security-first approach, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to adapt as requirements and priorities evolve. You will collaborate with engineering partners to understand business and technical needs, contribute to code review and testing, and improve solutions through iterative development. The team works remotely, so clear communication, accountability, and effective coordination across distributed stakeholders are essential. You should also be comfortable using AI-assisted coding and code-generation tools as part of a considered daily workflow, applying your expertise to validate and refine their output.
Qualifications
Applicants should have professional experience developing and maintaining PHP applications in production environments. Experience in a highly regulated industry, such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, or a comparable field, is strongly relevant. You should understand common web application security risks and be familiar with secure coding principles and secure software development lifecycle practices. The successful candidate can assess code carefully, identify potential risks, and help deliver maintainable, reliable software.
Comfort using AI-assisted development tools is required, along with the judgment to review generated code for correctness, security, and suitability. You should be able to manage multiple priorities in a fully remote setting, communicate progress and blockers clearly, and work constructively with engineering stakeholders. A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
Responsibilities
Build, enhance, and maintain PHP features within an enterprise application ecosystem. Translate requirements into practical technical solutions and collaborate with engineering stakeholders to clarify scope, resolve issues, and deliver agreed outcomes. Write secure, reliable, and maintainable code, and participate in reviews, testing, debugging, and iterative improvements. Consider security throughout development, including when working with AI-assisted tools, and verify that proposed changes meet quality and safety expectations. Support several initiatives in parallel, adjust to shifting priorities, and provide timely communication in a remote work environment. Contribute to identifying application issues and help implement solutions that strengthen the overall user and system experience.
Benefits
This is a remote, U.S.-based contract opportunity with an hourly pay range of $75–$85, based on relevant experience and engagement details. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to enterprise applications, work with engineering stakeholders across multiple initiatives, and apply secure development practices in a production environment. As this is a contract role, benefits and other engagement terms will be discussed during the hiring process and may depend on the applicable contract arrangement.
