We are seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer, React Native, for a consumer health technology opportunity in Alameda, California. The team is developing mobile experiences that help people understand and act on their health data, including continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) insights, food logging, and personalized guidance. About The Role

As Senior Mobile Engineer, you will build and maintain consumer-facing features across iOS and Android using React Native. You will take ownership of work across the mobile development lifecycle, from technical design and architecture through implementation, testing, release support, and ongoing maintenance. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and engineering colleagues to deliver clear, useful, and dependable experiences.

The role calls for deep React Native expertise and sound judgment about when shared cross-platform development is appropriate and when native implementation may offer a better solution. You will contribute to an ongoing transition toward native iOS and Android development, helping the team evaluate what to migrate and how. This position is based in Alameda, California.

Qualifications

Required qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, along with at least five years of professional software engineering experience. You should have three or more years using React Native as a primary technology in a production consumer application. You bring strong knowledge of component architecture, state management, navigation, performance optimization, and the React Native new architecture, including JSI, Fabric, and TurboModules.

You should understand iOS and/or Android fundamentals well enough to investigate native-layer behavior, interpret native code while debugging, and make informed decisions about native module usage. Experience consuming native modules, applying mobile architecture patterns, and designing offline-first experiences is important. You should also have hands-on experience profiling React Native applications, addressing JavaScript-thread and rendering bottlenecks, and writing automated unit and integration tests. Familiarity with end-to-end testing frameworks is expected.

Preferred qualifications: Experience building native features or modules with Swift or Kotlin; work in consumer health, digital health, or another quality-sensitive industry; and familiarity with CGM, biosensor, wearable, IoT, Bluetooth Low Energy, or real-time device data integrations. Exposure to on-device machine learning tools such as Core ML or TensorFlow Lite, mobile CI/CD and app store releases, or high-growth consumer technology environments is also valuable.

Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and improve mobile features such as CGM data visualizations, RE-QF5bp72 food logging, personalized metabolic insights, and health assistant experiences. Own assigned areas of the React Native codebase from architecture and design through development, testing, and maintenance. Write clean, reliable, well-tested code that performs consistently across a broad range of iOS and Android devices and operating system versions.

Identify and resolve performance issues, including JavaScript-thread bottlenecks, unnecessary rendering, and memory concerns. Work with native modules and platform capabilities, supporting integrations with CGM hardware SDKs and Bluetooth data streams. Contribute technical insight to decisions about migrating functionality toward native iOS and Android development. Review code, share knowledge, and promote readable, testable, maintainable solutions. Partner with Product and Design to clarify requirements, define practical scope, and raise concerns constructively when an approach adds unnecessary complexity. Strengthen mobile testing practices across unit, integration, and end-to-end coverage.
