Manager of Communications and Marketing — Buffalo, NY

gb3mqpvrbygc, a boutique search firm, is partnering with a well-respected public economic development organization in Buffalo to find its next Manager of Communications and Marketing.

This is the organization's public voice. You'll report directly to the CEO, lead both PR and marketing, and sit in every Board meeting. You'll tell the story of major redevelopment and business growth projects across the region.

What you'll do

• Act as the point of contact for all media inquiries, and draft press releases, statements and talking points

• Advise leadership on issues with public or media interest, including crisis response

• Communicate with a Board that includes elected officials and regional business, labor and civic leaders

• Manage website content, social media, advertising, collateral and the annual report

• Plan press events and represent the organization at community and industry events

What you bring

• 5+ years in public affairs, PR, media relations and/or marketing, ideally at a nonprofit, government agency or board-governed organization

• Strong writing and sound judgment about what carries PR weight

• Comfort working with board members and elected officials

• Knowledge of the Erie County business and political landscape, a plus

• Journalism background or familiarity with NYS Open Meetings Law, a plus

Compensation: $70,000 to $80,000 base. Final salary depends on experience. Includes an excellent public-sector benefits package.
