C++ Software Engineer – Windows/Linux Applications — Houston, TX

We are working with an established technology company in the Houston area seeking a skilled C/C++ Software Engineer to join its engineering team.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on development, working with complex software systems, and solving challenging technical problems.

The position focuses primarily on native application development, maintaining and enhancing existing software, and developing new functionality in Windows and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C and C++, with an emphasis on C++.

• Enhance and modernize existing software applications and components.

• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, debug code, and optimize performance.

• Develop and maintain applications for Windows and Linux environments.

• Work with multithreading, memory management, and system-level functionality.

• Collaborate with other engineers on software architecture, development, testing, and improvements.

• Contribute to new software features and ongoing product development.

Requirements

• Strong professional development experience with C and/or C++, preferably C++.

• Experience developing applications in Windows and/or Linux environments.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.

• Experience debugging and maintaining existing software codebases.

• Familiarity with multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with native desktop application development.

• Familiarity with Win32, MFC, GDI, SDL, Qt, or similar technologies.

• Linux systems programming experience.

• Experience with hardware/software integration or embedded systems.

• Experience developing performance-sensitive applications.
