Senior Software Engineer II (Full Stack) — United States

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) with a strong passion for building high-quality, scalable user experiences backed by reliable backend services. While this role spans the full stack, the primary focus is on designing, implementing, testing, and evolving complex frontend systems that power rich, interactive applications — with meaningful contributions to the backend services that support them. Ideal split for the role will be 80% frontend and 20% backend.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of modern UI architecture alongside solid backend experience, strong engineering fundamentals, and a firm computer science foundation — including data structures, algorithms, and performance considerations relevant to large-scale client and server applications. You will work on sophisticated single-page applications that require careful state management, rendering performance, and seamless integration with the backend services you help build and maintain.

You are expected to work independently, take ownership of features end-to-end across the stack, and contribute to technical design decisions. You should have excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, along with hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Agile development practices.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications across the full stack using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, GraphQL, Java, Spring Boot, and Python.

• Build rich, interactive user experiences, including canvas-based rendering and custom UI workflows for personalized product creation (e.g., photo books, SVG layouts).

• Own frontend features end-to-end — from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, domain services, and RESTful/GraphQL APIs that support frontend capabilities.

• Optimize frontend performance across rendering, memory usage, network efficiency, and bundle size.

• Contribute to architecture decisions spanning state management, data-fetching strategies, SSR/CSR tradeoffs, and API design.

• Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices using Jest and modern component/integration testing frameworks.

• Ensure applications meet accessibility (WCAG), security, and privacy compliance standards.

• Collaborate closely with designers, backend engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver cohesive user experiences.

• Participate actively in code reviews, raising quality, consistency, and maintainability across the codebase.

• Deploy and operate services in AWS-based environments, working with CI/CD pipelines.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools where appropriate to improve developer productivity and software quality.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a primary focus on frontend development and meaningful backend experience.

• Expertise in React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and GraphQL.

• Working knowledge in Java, Spring Boot, Python or similar technologies for backend development.

• Comprehensive understanding of frontend architecture, single-page application (SPA) design, and modern rendering patterns.

• Hands-on experience with canvas rendering, custom UI engines, or performance-critical frontend components.

• Strong computer science foundation, including data structures, algorithms, and performance analysis.

• Experience designing and integrating with RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

• Proven track record in Test-Driven Development and automated testing using tools like Jest.

• Familiarity with cloud-based deployments, especially AWS.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated success in building maintainable, scalable, and cost-effective solutions across the stack.

• Adaptable to evolving product requirements and technical constraints while balancing user experience, engineering excellence, and long-term maintainability.

• A mindset of continuous improvement — bringing forward ideas that promote modern engineering standards, tooling, and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar.

• Experience working with LLMs (Large Language Models) and generative AI applications, including prompt engineering and fine-tuning strategies.

• Experience building frontend build, deployment, and CI/CD workflows.

• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ.

• Experience with workflow engines.

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.

The compensation package for this role is based on multiple factors, such as job level, responsibilities, location, and candidate experience. The base pay ranges included below are specific to the locations listed, and may not be applicable to other locations.

Connecticut and New York: [$117,750-152,000]

Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Washington: [$117,750-140,750]

Nevada: [$110,500-152,000]

Maryland and New Jersey: [127,250-152,000]

Hawaii : [$110,500-132,250]
