Database Developer — United States

QWT is seeking an experienced Senior Database Developer to provide technical leadership across database services. This full-time, exempt position offers a remote work model and an annual salary range of $140,000 to $160,000, with eligibility for a performance bonus. This position does not qualify for employment sponsorship now or in the future.

About The Role

As Senior Database Developer, you will serve as a central technical resource for database services, covering design, development, administration, performance tuning, ETL, reporting, and support. You will shape scalable and reliable database architectures, lead development of data applications and business intelligence solutions, and help ensure that information is secure, accurate, and accessible. You will also provide project leadership, mentor team members, and recommend tools and platforms that support evolving business requirements.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience is required. You should bring at least eight years of full software development life cycle experience with SQL Server, Microsoft BI, data warehousing, data marts, and reporting solutions deployed in AWS environments. Advanced knowledge of SQL Server and the Microsoft BI stack, including SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS, is expected, along with experience in data modeling, metadata management, data governance, OLTP, and ODS.

Five years of AWS Redshift experience is required. AWS experience and five years of metadata experience are preferred. Experience with AWS data infrastructure such as S3, Glue, Aurora MySQL, and DMS is a strong plus. Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, cloud ETL, and automated data ingestion, processing, reporting, or monitoring is also beneficial. You should be able to analyze business needs, communicate clearly, provide strong customer service, solve complex problems, manage competing priorities, and work effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, administer, and optimize databases, packages, jobs, gateways, interfaces, and data transfer mechanisms. Lead database application, data warehouse, data mart, ETL, reporting, and business intelligence development, including environment-specific deployments for scheduled releases. Ensure architectures meet requirements for scalability, performance, reliability, security, governance, and data integrity, and integrate new systems with the existing DataMart structure.

Partner with project teams to define data retrieval and reporting approaches, assess software requests, estimate effort, and plan delivery. Lead assigned development projects by setting scope, coordinating tasks, and keeping deliverables aligned with schedule and cost expectations. Identify efficiency improvements, conduct research into emerging database technologies, and provide recommendations to senior management. Document procedures, review colleagues’ code and changes, promote consistent development practices, and guide, train, and mentor team members.
