About The Role
We are seeking a skilled UI/UX Designer to join our Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) business unit. This role involves designing intuitive and visually polished software experiences for mission-critical applications, data platforms, and AI-enabled tools. The ideal candidate will translate user needs and complex workflows into usable interfaces, ensuring a consistent experience across integrated applications. Responsibilities include user research, information architecture, interaction and visual design, prototyping, usability testing, and close collaboration with developers through production delivery. This position requires an active Secret security clearance and offers a remote work environment with occasional travel for user research, workshops, and customer engagements.
Qualifications
• Active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain it throughout employment.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in UI/UX design, product design, interaction design, or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction, user experience, visual design, or relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• A portfolio demonstrating user research, interaction design, visual design, and contributions to delivered software products (sanitized case studies or authorized walkthroughs acceptable).
• Proficiency with Figma or comparable interface design and prototyping tools, including reusable components and responsive layouts.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing and applying findings to design improvements.
• Ability to design complex workflows, information-dense interfaces, consistent navigation, and reusable design systems.
• Experience collaborating with software developers, documenting interaction behavior, and reviewing implemented interfaces.
• Familiarity with accessibility and responsive design best practices.
• Strong communication, facilitation, organization, and independent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively across distributed teams and support periodic travel.
• Desired Qualifications:
• Experience designing software for military, federal, national security, or regulated environments.
• Experience with unified interfaces across multiple applications, role-based workspaces, data and analytics platforms, or AI-enabled tools.
• Familiarity with operational dashboards, geospatial interfaces, robotics or autonomous systems, and workflows under time and connectivity constraints.
• Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and component-based front-end frameworks to collaborate effectively with developers.
• Experience supporting Agile delivery and collaboration using tools such as GitLab or Jira.
• Experience designing for federal accessibility requirements and working with accessibility specialists.
Responsibilities
• Conduct user interviews, workflow observations, and discovery sessions to gather and prioritize user needs and design requirements.
• Develop information architecture, navigation structures, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity interfaces, and interactive prototypes for web applications and platforms.
• Design dashboards, data tables, search experiences, forms, and approval workflows that simplify complex information and support efficient task completion.
• Create and maintain a shared design system encompassing typography, layout, color, components, interaction patterns, and usage guidelines.
• Design comprehensive interaction states such as loading, empty, error, permission, confirmation, and degraded-connectivity conditions with clear user feedback and recovery options.
• Plan and conduct usability testing, document findings, prioritize design improvements, and evaluate task completion and user feedback across iterations.
• Apply accessibility best practices to layouts, contrast, keyboard interactions, focus states, and interface content; coordinate implementation and validation with engineering teams.
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, platform engineers, and cybersecurity personnel to align designs with mission priorities, technical constraints, access controls, and delivery schedules.
• Provide annotated designs, component specifications, assets, and acceptance criteria; review implemented interfaces and resolve usability and visual-quality issues prior to release.
• Present design recommendations and tradeoffs to customers and leadership; maintain version-controlled design artifacts and continuously improve products based on user feedback.
Benefits
• Competitive salary range of $102,000 - $174,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Remote work flexibility with periodic travel opportunities.
• Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in federal government and defense sectors.
• Collaborative and innovative work environment focused on mission impact and technology advancement.
• Access to professional development and growth within a leading digital solutions provider.
