The Business Data Analyst role sits at the intersection of data infrastructure and decision-making - translating raw data from production pipelines, product events, and SaaS tools into analyses, dashboards, and models that leadership and cross-functional teams actually use to make decisions.
The role works closely with analytics engineers and data engineers on a modern warehouse stack (Snowflake, dbt, vGRDwTv) while partnering directly with product, growth, and finance stakeholders. This is a hands-on role: expect to write SQL daily, own metrics definitions, and influence roadmap decisions with quantitative evidence.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and maintain complex SQL models in Snowflake using dbt, ensuring well-tested, version-controlled transformations that power downstream reporting
• Design and deliver Tableau (or Looker) dashboards for product, growth, and executive stakeholders, with a focus on self-service and metric consistency
• Own and evolve the company metrics layer - defining, documenting, and defending standardized KPI definitions across teams
• Conduct deep-dive analyses on user behavior, retention, funnel conversion, and revenue trends; communicate findings through clear written summaries and presentations
• Partner with data engineers to improve pipeline reliability, data quality tests, and monitoring across ingestion and transformation layers
• Perform ad hoc analyses and build lightweight Python or R analyses to answer open business questions with statistical rigor
• Act as the analytics point of contact for 1-2 business units, translating ambiguous questions into scoped analytical work
What We Are Looking For
• 3+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics engineering roles
• Expert-level SQL: window functions, CTEs, query optimization on large datasets (100M+ row tables)
• Hands-on experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks, and a modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
• Proficiency building dashboards in Tableau, Looker, or Power BI, with a portfolio of stakeholder-facing deliverables
• Working knowledge of Python (pandas) or R for analysis and prototyping beyond SQL
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience
• Bonus: experience with experimentation/A/B testing frameworks, vGRDwTv orchestration, Amplitude or Segment event data, or prior startup experience
