About The Role

WATI is seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to design, build, test, and optimize WordPress-based applications. This remote role is suited to an experienced developer who can turn business and user requirements into responsive, accessible, and maintainable web solutions. You will work across the development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and planning implementations to testing, launch, and ongoing improvement.

The successful candidate will bring strong PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills, along with practical experience integrating REST APIs and ensuring cross-browser compatibility. You should be comfortable taking ownership of development work, contributing technical guidance, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver dependable results. A lead-capacity background is important, as the role requires sound technical judgment and the ability to help coordinate or guide development efforts.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, together with at least five years of experience in data processing or software development. A minimum of three years of experience in a lead capacity is required. Applicants should also demonstrate:

• Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Experience developing, customizing, and maintaining WordPress websites or applications.

• Practical knowledge of REST API integration and the ability to connect WordPress solutions with external services.

• Experience testing websites across browsers and devices, identifying compatibility issues, and implementing effective fixes.

• A sound understanding of responsive web design, performance considerations, security practices, and maintainable code.

• The ability to troubleshoot issues systematically and communicate technical decisions clearly.

• Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities while working remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain WordPress-based websites and applications that meet product, business, and user requirements.

• Build and customize themes, templates, plugins, and other site components using appropriate WordPress development practices.

• Write and maintain clean, efficient code using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Integrate REST APIs and support reliable data exchange between WordPress applications and other systems.

• Test functionality, responsiveness, accessibility, and cross-browser behavior; resolve defects before and after release.

• Optimize websites for performance, usability, reliability, and search-friendly structure, while following security and quality standards.

• Review existing implementations, investigate technical issues, and recommend improvements to the codebase and development processes.

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering colleagues to clarify requirements, estimate work, and deliver solutions on schedule.

• Provide technical guidance in a lead capacity, share knowledge, and support consistent development practices across projects.
