Research Scientist (R37) — United States

For our client, we are seeking a Research Scientist (R37) to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This role will focus on applied research in explainable AI, reinforcement learning, and related machine learning methods that can be brought into healthcare applications. You will build and evaluate models using healthcare data, partner closely with ML Engineering and Product teams, and help translate research advances into measurable business outcomes. The position also emphasizes prototyping, experimentation, and validation frameworks that support scalable, high-impact innovation in a regulated environment.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $140,000 – $270,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Conduct applied research in explainable AI and reinforcement learning.

• Design, train, and evaluate machine learning models using healthcare data.

• Collaborate with ML Engineering and Product teams to implement research innovations.

• Build end-to-end research prototypes and experimentation frameworks.

• Develop validation methodologies that demonstrate business impact.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.

• 3+ years of industry research experience, including postdoctoral work.

• Expertise in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.

• Research experience in interpretability, reinforcement learning, or retrieval-augmented generation.

• Experience with large-scale model training on distributed platforms such as Ray or PyTorch Lightning.

• Proven publication record in top-tier AI or healthcare AI conferences.
