About BusinessRate

BusinessRate is a Phoenix-based platform that ranks and spotlights local businesses. We’re building a business media brand on Instagram, with a main page and state pages covering business trends, local rankings, and the stories behind them. We’re adding a face to it: a news-style host who makes that content feel credible, sharp, and watchable.

The role

You show up and make the videos. We handle everything else. You’ll get content ideas and talking points for each video, and you’ll turn them into confident, natural short-form videos in your own words. No editing, no graphics, no posting, no production work. Your only job is to be great on camera.

What you’ll do

• Come in each day and record short-form vertical videos on business trends, stories, and local rankings

• Turn a set of scripting ideas into a natural, confident video without leaning on a teleprompter

• Record long-form videos for YouTube as that channel grows, talking through a full topic on camera

• Take quick direction and feedback and adjust your delivery for different pages and formats

• Help us find the voice and format that works as the content grows

What we’re looking for

• Strong on-camera presence: natural, energetic, and credible

• Training or experience in broadcast journalism, communications, or a similar field (recent grads encouraged to apply)

• Comfort turning bullet points into a smooth, engaging video, whether it’s 30 seconds or 15 minutes

• Able to hold an audience over longer formats, not just quick hooks

• Reliable and efficient, able to record a full day’s content

• Experience creating content for social platforms is a plus, whether from a personal channel, a brand, or a student or professional newsroom

• Able to work in-office in Phoenix full-time

Nice to have

• Reporter, anchor, or on-air experience, including student broadcast

• Interest in business, entrepreneurship, or local news

• Spanish fluency

What this job is not

• No weekends or holidays.

• No breaking news or on-call hours.

• No editing, graphics, posting, or production work.

• No shooting on location. You work in our office.

Compensation

$40,000-$65,000 based on experience, Room to grow as this grows
