About the Opportunity:

The FOUNDATION MODEL ENGINEER role is focused on designing, executing, and operationalizing fine-tuning workflows for large language models using supervised, preference-based, and reinforcement learning approaches. This position plays a critical role in developing and maintaining reliable training pipelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate complex requirements into well-engineered solutions. The role contributes to advancing machine learning capabilities and ensuring the deployment of robust, production-grade models.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement fine-tuning workflows for large language models.

• Construct datasets carefully and apply rigorous evaluation methodologies.

• Operate complex training pipelines reliably on GPU clusters.

• Collaborate with product, design, engineering, operations, and business teams.

• Conduct code and design reviews and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of combined machine learning research and engineering experience with significant exposure to large language models.

• Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch.

• Experience fine-tuning transformer-based language models at scale.

• Knowledge of distributed training strategies such as FSDP, ZeRO, and pipeline parallelism.

• Familiarity with preference optimization techniques like RLHF and DPO.

• Strong understanding of evaluation methodologies and human evaluation design.

• Experience managing training jobs on GPU clusters and failure recovery.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven record of delivering impactful large language model projects.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Salary range between $200,000 and $230,000 annually.
