About the Role

Zoo Med Laboratories Inc., the world's #1 manufacturer of pet reptile products, is seeking a full-time Print and Package Designer to join its in-house graphic design department in San Luis Obispo, California. The company develops its artwork and most of its photography internally, producing print and digital advertisements, catalogs, trade show booths, point-of-purchase displays, marketing materials, and product packaging.

The role requires strong creative skills, experience with Adobe Creative Suite, a flexible approach to design projects, and a strong work ethic. The designer will collaborate with other artists and designers and work with various departments and team leaders as projects arise. AI-prompted or generative materials will not be accepted.

Key Responsibilities

• Design print and packaging materials for the company's product lines.

• Collaborate with graphic designers, web designers, new media and video production team members.

• Work with different departments and team leaders on assigned creative projects.

• Develop artwork for marketing materials, advertisements, catalogs, trade show booths, point-of-purchase displays, and product packaging.

• Create and contribute photography for marketing materials.

• Apply creative and design skills across print and digital projects.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Communication, Industrial Design, or a related field.

• Background in advertising and design.

• Expertise using Mac Studio computers with the latest operating system and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Photography skills, including the ability to take high-quality photographs for marketing materials.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Ability to learn or apply skills to new programs, applications, and systems as needed.

• Friendly and optimistic approach, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.

• Genuine interest in pets and their well-being.

• Interest in marketing and general knowledge of changing trends.
