JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to provide technical leadership in designing, implementing, and improving the reliability, availability, scalability, performance, and resilience of production systems and distributed applications.
The Staff Site Reliability Engineer will apply software engineering, systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps principles to improve production service health and operational efficiency. This individual will partner with Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, and other technology teams to integrate reliability, observability, recoverability, and operational readiness throughout the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience managing complex production environments, identifying systemic reliability risks, leading incident response initiatives, and influencing architecture and engineering decisions across multiple services and teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide technical leadership in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), infrastructure reliability, production operations, and distributed systems across multiple engineering teams.
• Apply software engineering, systems engineering, automation, and DevOps practices to improve application development, testing, deployment, monitoring, operations, and recovery.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), error budgets, and service health metrics.
• Develop and enhance observability solutions using monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, metrics, alerting, dashboards, and service health instrumentation.
• Drive improvements in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), deployment automation, configuration management, and infrastructure reliability.
• Identify and resolve systemic production issues, recurring incidents, performance bottlenecks, and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
• Translate operational findings into improvements in application architecture, software code, automation, tooling, and engineering standards.
• Partner with Software Engineering and Platform Engineering teams to incorporate reliability, availability, scalability, performance, resilience, observability, and disaster recovery into the software development lifecycle.
• Lead or participate in complex incident management activities, including production troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), service restoration, and blameless post-incident reviews.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for critical production incidents and complex reliability issues across multiple services and engineering teams.
• Improve on-call operations, incident response processes, operational readiness, and production support practices.
• Identify opportunities to reduce operational toil, manual intervention, and repetitive tasks through automation, scripting, reusable tools, and engineering best practices.
• Drive capacity planning, performance optimization, resilience testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Influence technical architecture, engineering standards, and reliability strategies across multiple applications and services.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 8+ years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with software development, programming, or scripting using one or more modern programming languages.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, production troubleshooting, and automation.
• Experience designing, supporting, and improving highly available and scalable production environments.
• Experience with public cloud platforms and cloud architecture, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems, networking, infrastructure, and modern application architectures.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, incident management, and production service reliability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, solve complex engineering problems, and influence decisions across multiple teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and technical problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and automated software deployment.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and configuration management.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.
• Experience with observability platforms, application performance monitoring (APM), logging, distributed tracing, metrics, and alerting solutions.
• Experience implementing and managing SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets.
• Experience with incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), disaster recovery, resilience engineering, and capacity planning.
• Experience with performance testing, load testing, scalability engineering, and production optimization.
• Experience developing reusable automation, internal tooling, engineering platforms, and infrastructure solutions.
• Demonstrated experience establishing engineering standards, mentoring technical teams, and driving cross-functional reliability initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
