Scrum Master/Sr Scrum Master — Johnston, RI

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Remove obstacles and distractions that may impede the team from meeting goals and objectives.

• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.

• Work with the Product Owner to maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring it is clearly defined, prioritized and actionable.

• Guide and coach the Development Team on self-organizing and cross-functional teamwork.

• Help the team to identify and remove impediments that are affecting their ability to deliver.

• Ensure that the team is following Scrum principles, practices, and values, and continuously improving their processes.

• Communicate with stakeholders and provide visibility into the team's progress, challenges, and successes.

• Foster a collaborative and transparent team environment that encourages open communication, feedback, and learning.

• Provide guidance and training to ensure Agile Methods are followed.

Education

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university preferred. Additional appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience

5 or more years of experience in software industry; 3 or more years as Scrum Master/Agile PM. Insurance industry experience and an understanding of policy administration systems required. Experience with software development and management using Agile processes to drive product requirements, planning and execution within a regulated environment. Experience with Azure Boards. Commercial automobile insurance experience and/or familiarity with the residual market preferred.

Skills/Knowledge

• Certified Scrum Master or willing to obtain certification.

• Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles.

• Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills.

• Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices.

• Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques.

• Track record of successfully delivering products under tight schedules.

• Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams.

• Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills.

Salary Range: $84,500 – $134,900/$100,800 - $161,000 Annual. Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
