Salary Range: $100,000-$130,000 a year
About the Role
We are looking for an Audio Test Automation Engineer with a software engineering mindset and a background in audio devices or the audio industry. You will read technical documentation, gather audio test requirements, and translate them into executable validation code — quickly and accurately. You will support on-demand testing needs across audio subsystems, working within firmware and diagnostics workflows to ensure audio hardware performs to spec across product lineup.

Key Responsibilities
• Read and interpret audio system technical documentation and translate requirements directly into executable test scripts
• Handle on-demand requests for new and evolving audio test requirements with fast code turnaround
• Develop, run, and debug test code across multiple scripting languages(Python, Lua, and others) within various software suites
• Maintain and extend automation and sequence engine frameworks for audio validation and diagnostics
• Execute unit tests and integration tests on audio subsystems; triage and debug failures across hardware and software layers
• Validate audio firmware behavior — codec bring-up, signal routing, clocking, power sequencing — through scripted test cases
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and software engineers to translate shifting requirements into working test solutions
• Document test coverage, results, and defect findings clearly and concisely

Must-Have Skills
• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in software engineering, test automation, or firmware validation
• Working ability to translate requirements into code — Python, Lua, or similar scripting languages
• Background working on audio devices, audio hardware, or within the audio industry (headphones, speakers, earbuds, audio interfaces, professional audio equipment, etc.)
• Ability to read and parse technical documentation (schematics, firmware specs, audio subsystem datasheets) and convert to test logic
• Hands-on experience running and debugging code across multiple software environments and test suites
• Foundational understanding of audio signal chain concepts — ADCs, DACs, codecs, amplifiers, clocking, digital audio interfaces (I²S, PDM, TDM)
• Exposure to scripted test development — writing, executing, and maintaining test cases for hardware or firmware validation

Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with automation or sequence engines used in hardware/firmware test workflows
• Prior experience with unit te sting frameworks (pytest, unittest, or equivalent)
• Exposure to audio measurement tools — Audio Precision APx, HEAD acoustics, Klippel, or GRAS
• Knowledge of audio protocols and codecs — I²S, SoundWire, USB Audio, AAC, LC3, Bluetooth HFP/A2DP
• Experience in NPI or manufacturing test environments (EVT/DVT/PVT build cycles, EOL/ATE testing)
• Familiarity with DSP concepts — filtering, EQ, ANC, beamforming, noise floor characterization
