Systems Engineer — Annapolis Junction, MD

ZjJ sXaBM7V2U5 MxSKX, Inc., is seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to join a large, mixed contractor and civilian team of System Administrators and Systems Engineers supporting DevOps and live operational systems, largely third-party. All supported systems are Linux physical servers or virtual machines in a backend environment serving Mission and Operations users and their desktops.

Job Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux physical servers and virtual machines supporting DevOps and live operational systems

• Monitor system health and respond to mission-critical updates and hot issues communicated through team channels and email

• Work and resolve tickets in Jira according to team priorities

• Support backend services for Mission and Operations users and desktops, including authentication, DNS, share drives, and home directories

• Perform STE/STN and DISA STIG compliance work on Linux systems

• Support Kubernetes, container, and cloud environments

• Automate administration tasks using tools such as Ansible and Salt, along with Bash, Python, and Perl scripting

• Manage virtualization, IP networking, and firewall components supporting the environment

• Coordinate with System Administrators, Systems Engineers, and civilian leadership across the team

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least ten (10) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

• Five (5) additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for the degree.

• Linux administration experience sufficient to meet the years required for the labor category.

• Solid experience with STE/STN and DISA STIG compliance work on Linux systems.

• Experience with Kubernetes.

• Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Salt).

• Scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl).

• Virtualization experience (e.g., VMware, Red Hat KVM, Proxmox).

• IP networking and firewall experience.

• Some experience with container and cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with storage management solutions and arrays (e.g., NetApp, Isilon).

• Hyper-converged infrastructure experience (e.g., Harvester, Nutanix, Cisco HyperFlex).

Security Clearance

• Active Top Secret clearance with a Polygraph
