The role sits at the intersection of infrastructure and engineering - owning the reliability, scalability, and observability of production systems handling billions of requests per day across Kubernetes-based environments.
The team treats operations as a software problem: SLOs, error budgets, automated remediation, and infrastructure-as-code are the default, not the exception. This role directly shapes how fast the organization can ship without breaking things.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain production Kubernetes clusters (EKS/GKE) supporting microservices across multiple regions and availability zones
• Define, implement, and enforce SLOs and error budgets - driving incident response, root-cause analysis, and actionable postmortems for production outages
• Build observability tooling with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry to enable proactive detection of latency, saturation, and error-rate regressions
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) with GitOps workflows
• Drive capacity planning and performance tuning for high-throughput data stores (PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka) and cloud-native services (AWS/GCP)
• Lead blameless incident reviews and contribute to on-call rotation improvement - reducing paging noise and mean time to recovery
• Partner with product engineering teams to improve service reliability through chaos testing, load testing, and progressive delivery (canary, blue/green deployments)
What We Are Looking For
• 3–7 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, including ownership of production systems at meaningful scale
• Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production - cluster operations, networking (CNI, ingress), autoscaling, and troubleshooting
• Strong proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and its core compute, networking, and storage services
• Fluency in at least one scripting or systems language: Go, Python, or Bash, with a track record of automating operational toil
• Solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals: consensus, consistency models, load balancing, graceful degradation, and failure domains
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; strong written communication and incident documentation skills
• Bonus: Experience with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd), FinOps/cost optimization, eBPF-based tooling (Cilium), or contributing to open-source reliability projects
