About The Role

Bear Claw is seeking a Middle Backend Developer to help build, maintain, and scale the services behind its recruiting platform. You will primarily develop in PHP within a serverless architecture powered by AWS Lambda, with MySQL supporting the core application. You will also contribute to Wu BGQVH functionality written in Python and backed by PostgreSQL.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for a developer who values reliable, maintainable software and is interested in applying ha capabilities to real product needs. You will own well-scoped features from development through delivery, collaborate with colleagues across the organization, and contribute to technical decisions. The role offers opportunities to deepen your backend expertise and grow toward more senior technical responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Approximately two to four years of professional backend development experience.

• Strong practical experience developing and supporting production applications with PHP.

• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda or serverless architecture, and familiarity with the broader AWS ecosystem.

• Solid MySQL knowledge, including relational data modeling, schema design, indexing, query development, and performance troubleshooting.

• Working knowledge of Python and the ability to read, support, and extend an existing ha agent codebase.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Git, automated testing, and established software development practices.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently deliver clearly defined work.

• Genuine interest in ha and large language model features, with a willingness to learn and develop in this area.

Experience with ha agents, LLM frameworks, prompt or tool design, vector databases, or retrieval-augmented generation is beneficial. Additional familiarity with AWS services such as API Gateway, SQS, S3, AuroraDB, CloudWatch, or SNS is also an advantage. Experience with event-driven systems, Docker, CI/CD, CloudFormation, or working across PHP and Python would be useful.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services in PHP running on AWS Lambda.

• Build and optimize MySQL data models, schemas, indexes, and queries to support application performance.

• Support and extend Python-based Wu BGQVH functionality backed by PostgreSQL.

• Help turn ha and LLM feature concepts into secure, scalable, production-ready services.

• Integrate third-party APIs and internal services reliably, following appropriate security practices.

• Monitor, debug, and improve the performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of serverless functions.

• Write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and participate constructively in code reviews.

• Collaborate with product, frontend, and engineering teammates to deliver features from planning through release.

• Contribute to technical discussions, documentation, and ongoing improvements to the codebase and development processes.
