WBUR is seeking a Producer to serve as the editorial and operational backbone of the Here & Now Book Club — a new cross-platform initiative spanning broadcast, podcast, newsletter, digital and live events. Reporting to the Executive Producer, the Producer will own the end-to-end delivery of the monthly title cycle, from book selection support and author/publisher relationships through production, distribution, and audience conversion. This role works in close partnership with the Book Club's Host/Contributor, who leads on-air interviews and audience-facing engagement, while the Producer ensures every commitment across the ecosystem — broadcast segment, bonus podcast, newsletter, landing page, social/video and live events — is planned, resourced and delivered on time. The Producer will also be the Book Club's key liaison to WBUR internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a voracious reader with sharp editorial judgment, a proven ability to manage complex, multi-platform content calendars, and the relationship-building instincts to work confidently with talent, authors and publishers, while growing a new community.
Required Skills
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5+ years of experience in editorial production, content production, or a related role in public media, publishing or journalism.
• Familiarity with the public media landscape and a deep respect for WBUR and NPR's editorial mission and values.
• Demonstrated project management skills — able to own a multi-platform content calendar and deliver on deadline.
• Across broadcast, podcast, newsletter, digital, and live events.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with experience producing newsletters or reader-facing digital content.
• Excellent organizational skills and comfort managing multiple concurrent workstreams and stakeholders.
• A collaborative, high-EQ working style, with the ability to partner effectively across editorial, membership, marketing and sponsorship teams.
• Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends around events and author availability.
