We are looking for a resourceful engineer who is excited to help shape the product from its earliest stages and build an experience with the potential to reach students around the world.

About The Role

This is a fully remote opportunity open to candidates worldwide. As the sole engineer and developer, you will take end-to-end ownership of Brainblast’s iOS app, including its architecture, implementation, launch, and ongoing improvement. You will work closely with the team to turn product ideas into polished features, moving quickly while making thoughtful technical decisions.

The role combines hands-on iOS development with full-stack problem-solving. You will build prototypes for internal testing several times a week, integrate APIs and backend services, and help create a product that is fast, reliable, and enjoyable to use. This position is well suited to an independent, creative engineer who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, proposing ideas, and taking initiative without waiting for detailed direction.

Qualifications

You bring at least three years of professional software development experience, including substantial iOS app development experience, and have shipped at least one iOS application professionally. You are proficient in Swift and familiar with iOS frameworks and technologies such as UIKit, Core Data, Core Animation, and the iOS SDK. You can use relevant development and performance tools to diagnose issues and improve app quality.

You have experience integrating RESTful APIs and other services, and understand the fundamentals of backend solutions such as Firebase. Familiarity with video streaming and mobile video optimization is valuable, as is experience implementing analytics, animations, or gamified features. You write maintainable code, test your work carefully, and can balance rapid iteration with a strong focus on performance and reliability. Above all, you are proactive, curious, and motivated to build products that make a meaningful difference for learners.

Responsibilities

Take full ownership of developing, launching, and maintaining the Brainblast iOS app. Build rapid prototypes for internal review and testing two to three times per week, and turn promising concepts into production-ready features. Create an asynchronous game experience that lets students solve math problems and send challenges to friends.

Develop analytics that help students track progress, understand their performance, and identify areas where they can improve. Organize, format, and integrate question banks into the app. Build a smooth content delivery system for TikTok-style mobile video lessons, with attention to playback quality and usability. Optimize the application for speed, engagement, and a seamless learning experience. Maintain scalable, understandable code, and help ensure quality through testing, debugging, and code reviews.
