About The Role

We are seeking highly experienced Backend Software Engineers to join Skool’s engineering team. This role is focused on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and performant backend services primarily written in Go. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Designers, and fellow Engineers to implement new systems and extend existing services. This is a 100% remote position with the option to work from our Los Angeles office if desired. Our backend engineers work on a variety of challenging problems, including optimizing community discovery, building engagement loops, and managing a payment system that serves tens of millions of users.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience building high-performance, reliable backend systems in complex and distributed environments

• Significant professional experience with Go programming language

• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch

• Strong experience building and maintaining web services

• Expertise in database performance optimization and backend performance tuning

• Proven ability to debug and resolve issues in live production environments

• Passion for writing maintainable, elegant, and well-documented code

• Excellent communication skills and ability to author clear architectural designs and requirements

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend features end-to-end

• Take full ownership of backend services and internal tools

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management and Design to implement scalable solutions

• Communicate architectural designs and technical requirements effectively

• Maintain high coding standards through thorough code reviews and collaboration

• Optimize backend performance and ensure system reliability

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure and development processes
