As a UI/UX Designer, you will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, Technical Program Managers, and Army stakeholders to create intuitive, efficient, and visually compelling user experiences. Your work will involve translating complex operational workflows and command processes into user-centered designs that perform reliably in real-world environments, including enterprise cloud and Tactical Edge Compute (TEC) settings. This position offers a chance to influence the usability of AI-enabled, cloud-native software that supports critical Army operations worldwide.

Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance (required)

• Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

• Proficiency in designing modern web-based applications using user-centered design principles

• Strong ability to translate ambiguous operational requirements into intuitive user experiences

• Expertise with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or equivalents

• Experience collaborating with Product Owners, Software Engineers, and cross-functional Agile teams

• Deep understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, visual design, accessibility, and responsive design principles

• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

• Excellent visual design skills with attention to usability, clarity, consistency, and information hierarchy

• Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience presenting design concepts to technical teams and senior stakeholders

Desired Qualifications

• Experience designing software for Department of Defense or federal government clients

• Familiarity with Army operations, Mission Command systems, Protection operations, or Command and Control applications

• Experience with geospatial applications, Common Operating Pictures (COPs), GIS-enabled interfaces, operational dashboards, or map-centric workflows

• Design experience for AI-enabled software applications, including decision support tools and intelligent workflow automation

• Understanding of cloud-native architectures, containerized applications, DevSecOps practices, and secure software delivery

• Collaboration experience with front-end engineers using React, TypeScript, or similar technologies

• Knowledge of secure software deployment environments such as RMF, Authority to Operate (ATO), and IL5/IL6 standards

• Prior experience supporting operational military users, software fielding, or forward deployed engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Lead UX/UI design efforts for software supporting U.S. Army modernization initiatives

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Technical Program Managers, Engineering Leads, Software Engineers, DevSecOps, Cybersecurity Specialists, and Army stakeholders to define user experience goals and design standards

• Conduct user research, interviews, workshops, and usability studies with Army personnel to gather insights on mission workflows and operational challenges

• Translate complex operational workflows into intuitive user journeys, task flows, information architectures, and interaction designs

• Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and production-ready UI specifications

• Develop and maintain scalable design systems including reusable components, typography, color standards, accessibility guidelines, and interaction patterns

• Design interfaces that visualize operational data, geospatial information, Common Operating Pictures (COPs), task management, AI-assisted recommendations, and mission planning workflows

• Work closely with Software Engineers to ensure designs are feasible, performant, and optimized for secure cloud-native applications

• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives

• Conduct usability testing with Army users and incorporate feedback into iterative design improvements

• Create UX artifacts including user personas, journey maps, workflow diagrams, storyboards, and design documentation

• Support customer demonstrations, executive briefings, pilot deployments, and operational evaluations through compelling interface prototypes and visualizations

• Contribute to establishing scalable UX practices, design standards, and reusable design assets for future software development

Benefits

• Competitive salary range of $92,000 - $158,000 based on experience and qualifications

• Remote work flexibility supporting work-life balance

• Opportunity to work on impactful projects supporting U.S. Army modernization and national defense

• Collaborative and innovative work environment with cross-functional teams

• Access to cutting-edge technology and mission-driven software development

• Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans (subject to company policy)
