About the Company:

Our partner is one of the top biotech and healthcare investment funds in the US, dedicated to advancing healthcare through investment, intelligence and philanthropy. Based on Park Avenue South in Manhattan, they combine deep healthcare expertise with data and technology to inform their investment and research work. They are now looking for a talented Machine Learning Engineer to join their team in New York.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on role for an exceptional machine learning engineer who wants to apply ML and large language models to real problems in healthcare and investing. You will build and deploy production ML systems, work closely with product and strategy colleagues, and have real influence on how data and AI are used across the firm. The role is ideal for someone with 2 to 8 years' experience from a top financial services firm, a high-growth start-up or a scale-up, who wants their work to have a direct impact.

Responsibilities:

• Build, train and deploy machine learning models and pipelines into production.

• Develop LLM-based tools, including retrieval, evaluation and agentic workflows, over large volumes of documents and data.

• Design reliable data pipelines and features from multiple internal and external sources.

• Partner with product, strategy and investment colleagues to turn their questions into working ML solutions.

• Evaluate, monitor and improve models once they are live.

• Bring best practice in ML engineering, testing and deployment to the team.

Requirements:

• 2 to 8 years' hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning systems in production.

• Strong Python and modern ML tooling (e.g. PyTorch).

• Experience with LLMs, retrieval (RAG) or model evaluation is a strong plus.

• An excellent academic record from a top university (e.g. Columbia, Cornell, NYU, Princeton, Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial or ETH).

• A background at a leading financial services firm, high-growth start-up or scale-up; healthcare or life sciences data experience is a plus.

• Based in New York, or keen to relocate there and work in person.

• Right to work in the US without sponsorship.

Compensation and benefits:
